For kids aged 5-12, our holiday programme, run by a qualified teacher and passionate environmental educator, is packed full of exciting adventures. Children will explore local flora and fauna, play outdoor games, engage in eco-friendly crafts, and enjoy activities like forest and beach scavenger hunts, driftwood sculpting, rock art, tree planting, and other hands-on eco-friendly crafts. They’ll also learn about animal care, conservation, and the wonders of nature, all while building interpersonal skills and fostering a deep connection with the natural world. Any cancellations must be made no less than four days before the start of each school holiday.

Required Gear:
-Children's own sunscreen (Spring and Summer school holidays)
- Sunhat and a long-sleeved shirt of light fabric for sun protection
- Drink bottle
- Backpack
- Notebook and something to write with
- Any medications your child requires (please ensure you have filled out the appropriate medical forms upon registering)
- Enough food for a morning tea
- Substantial lunch and afternoon tea
- Raincoat and a spare change of clothing.
Note:
In order to avoid burnout and ensure maximum enjoyment, it is recommended that you book your children in for a maximum of three days. Please see an example of our timetable to determine what days are most suitable for your child.

1. What age group is the Wildering Nook Holiday Program designed for?
Our program is lovingly crafted for children aged 5-12 years. We ensure that each activity is engaging and suitable for all age groups, creating a fun and inclusive experience for every child.
2. Where is the holiday program located?
Our program takes place at the charming Spring Creek School, 52 Ferry Road, Spring Creek. We also venture out to nearby nature reserves and enjoy the beauty of Rarangi Beach during our adventures.
3. What activities are included in the program?
We offer a delightful mix of activities, including outdoor games, creative crafts with an eco-friendly twist, enchanting storytelling, a magical forest scavenger hunt, and heartwarming interactions with our baby goat and baby Kune Kune pig. Children will also engage in meaningful activities like making animal enrichment, tree planting, gardening, and learning about conservation. Each day is thoughtfully planned, with room for spontaneity and child-led exploration.
4. What are the hours of operation?
Our program runs from 9 AM to 3 PM during term breaks. Annie will be there to greet your child with a warm smile at the gate in the morning and will be there to drop them off and share their day’s adventures with you at the end of the day.
5. How many children are in each group?
We keep our groups small, with a maximum of 11 children per day, so each child receives the care and attention they deserve. This close-knit setting allows us to build a strong sense of community and ensure everyone feels valued and included.
6. Who will be supervising my child?
Your child will be in the caring hands of Annie, a qualified teacher with a passion for education and nature, and an experienced and first aid-certified team member. Another police-vetted and trained adult will also be on hand to provide additional support, ensuring your child’s safety and happiness.
7. What safety measures are in place?
Your child’s safety is our top priority. We maintain a close staff-to-child ratio, always carry first aid kits, and have comprehensive registration forms that include any medical needs and permission to administer medication. Please be sure to fill out the medical section in the registration form and include any necessary medications with clear instructions so we can take the best care of your child. We regularly check in with the children, count heads, monitor the weather, and ensure our team is fully trained and ready for any situation.
8. What should my child bring to the program?
Please pack a nourishing lunch, snacks for morning and afternoon tea, a water bottle, a sun hat, sunscreen, and clothing suitable for the day’s weather, including a raincoat and a spare change of clothes. If your child has any specific medical needs, please ensure these are detailed in the form and that any necessary medications are provided with clear instructions. Please note that while your child is welcome to bring personal items, we cannot take responsibility for any items brought to the program.
9. Can my child attend the program for more than four days?
To keep the experience fresh and enjoyable, we recommend that children attend no more than four days in total. Ideally, we suggest spacing out the days, so your child has time to rest and look forward to each new adventure. However, we understand that life can be busy, and we’re here to work with you.
10. What if my child has special needs?
We believe every child deserves a wonderful experience. If your child has specific needs, please fill out the relevant sections of our enrollment form and reach out to Annie directly. Depending on their needs, we may suggest that an additional adult accompanies them to help them have the best possible time while also ensuring the full enjoyment of others.
11. How do I register my child for the program?
We would love to have your child join us! You can register once registrations go live by filling out our online enrollment form, available on our website. We recommend registering early, as spaces are limited, and we want to make sure your child doesn’t miss out on the fun. Registrations open approximately 4 weeks before the start of each holiday.
12. What is the cost of the program?
The program currently costs $55 per day. We cannot offer half days as we are a small family business. We strive to make our program accessible and affordable, offering a rich and rewarding experience for all families. Please note, prices may be subject to change.
13. What happens if there is bad weather?
We’re prepared for anything! If the weather isn’t suitable for our outdoor adventures, we’ll have plenty of indoor activities planned to keep your child engaged and happy. Flexibility is key, and we’re always ready to adapt to ensure a great day for everyone.
14. What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that plans can change. However, as a small business, we need to fill the space left by a cancellation. We require a four-day cancellation notice. Due to the nature of our business, cancellations made later than this are not able to be refunded. This policy helps ensure that we can continue to offer our program and cover our costs.
